People confuse it with advertising, publicity, and promotion... The reality? It is all and none of those things. ?? Think about it this way: Advertising ?? Creating a sign saying ‘Circus Coming Saturday’... ?? Promotion ?? Putting a sign on an elephant and walking it around town...?? Publicity ?? Reporting that the elephant walked through the mayor's garden...?? Public relations ?? Getting the mayor to laugh about it...?? Sales ?? Talking to guests and answering questions at the booths...?? So, where does marketing come into the picture? Marketing ?? Planning the whole thing. ?? Without a coherent marketing strategy, the rest will never happen.? There would be no logic... Just elephants on the loose for no reason. ?? A solid marketing strategy needs: 1. Crystal clear goals: ?? If you don’t know where you’re going, how are you going to get there?? ? There has to be a reason for parading an elephant around town. 2. Laser-focused target audience: ?? Create content for your ideal customer and understand their pain points.? ? A circus provides much-needed entertainment in a small town. 3. A killer offer: ?? Why should someone choose you over the competition?? ? A circus with elephants is bound to be good.? 4. A multi-channel approach: ?? One platform won’t cut it. Stack your traffic sources and create omnipresence. ? A custom sign, an elephant advertisement, an article in the local paper...etc. 5. Conversion-optimized funnel: ?? Your website, landing pages, and sales process need to guide people.? ? Set up the circus somewhere people can find it easily.? 6. Relentless data tracking: ??
