We live for skids! (And for getting our steps while in filming this video!) These skids were shipped out to a data center jobsite a couple weeks ago. Today's project spotlight is the Minnesota Zoo Treetop Trail! Built on top of the existing monorail track will be the new pedestrian treetop trail. At 32-feet high and 1.25 miles long, it is projected to be the world’s longest elevated pedestrian loop! A unique aspect of this project is the electrical installation in an inaccessible area, due to the presence of a vast pond. Because of this, our Advanced Construction Planning team researched various prefabrication and sequencing possibilities. Each month our frontline leaders participate in Manager Leadership Development training.??With our organization continuing to grow, change is going to happen, and the theme of the most recent training was surrounding change.? So why the silly photo of Charles Pelzer with only one shoe on and his shirt all disheveled???Without knowing what was happening, the leaders partnered up back to back.??One partner had to change 5 things about their appearance, and then the other partner had to figure out what changed.?? ? It was interesting to see that change doesn’t always mean removal of something and what happens when there are too many changes, too fast. The heart of this massive project is the five-story Amazon Distribution Center at Foundation Park in Sioux Falls, SD.?At the time of completion, it was the largest building in Sioux Falls.?The first floor alone spans nearly 635,000 square feet and the total finished space for the five stories equals nearly 3 million square feet – reaching 100 feet into the air! We have 14 Veterans in total at Baer, whose service adds up to 121 years! For Veterans Day on Monday, we wanted to do something special for our veterans to show our gratitude for their service. We celebrated with donuts from Buddy’s Bakery and by giving each veteran a Kwik Trip gift card. We know it's a small gesture, but we hope it helped let our veterans know how much we appreciate them! If you haven't noticed, we take safety seriously here at Baer. Did you know that October was Fire Safety Month? Last week we held a facility-wide fire drill, and afterwards we had a celebration lunch to mark 213 days without a recordable injury! During lunch we had a fire safety tool box talk from Safety Rep Bill Dravis as well as a drawing for some home fire safety products. The Mayo Franciscan Healthcare Campus renewal project included construction of a new 273,000 square-foot, 6-story building with a full basement connecting to the existing building.
