Celebrating a Century of the DH60 Moth ??? Conceived by Geoffrey de Havilland, this classic biplane took its first flight 100 years ago today, setting the de Havilland Aircraft Company on the way to success. Its lightweight design was instantly popular with flying clubs and private owners around the country, opening aviation up to a new generation of pilots, including a growing number of women, some of whom went on to undertake record breaking journeys in their aircraft, which included Amy Johnson's solo UK to Australia flight and Lady Bailey's Croydon to Cape Town adventure.
