Did you know welding dates back to 3000 B.C. in ancient Egypt? The earliest forms of welding involved hammering two pieces of metal together over heat until they joined together. This kind of forge welding was practiced for thousands of years, until 1886 when carbon arc welding was invented. Welding technologies made more advancements during World War II, with modern welding techniques like gas metal arc welding and submerged arc welding. One of the most innovative developments in recent years is laser welding, which utilizes focused laser beams to melt and fuse parts with precision and speed. This allows for minimal distortion and can join thin materials that are difficult to weld using traditional methods. Today, there are over 30 different welding processes.
