On Tuesday, we hosted 'How to become a deep tech founder: an introduction to acceleration' in partnership with?Conception X, and it was a fantastic exploration of how deep tech spin-outs go from ideas to thriving businesses. The day kicked off with a training session on deep tech and acceleration basics led by?Richard Anson, Academic Lead at?Conception X?and Venture Partner at?Octopus Ventures. Having learnt more about how Conception X and Science Creates could help them along their journeys from scientist to deep tech founder from?Riam Kanso,?Conception X?Founder & CEO, and?Francis Lister, Head of Platform at?Science Creates, participants then discovered how the?Royal Academy of Engineering?also supports entrepreneurs in a talk by?Edwin Ajogun. An ideation workshop delivered a hands-on session where attendees—from PhD students to seasoned academics—workshopped their business ideas, one-on-one, with the Conception X leadership team. This was followed by a panel discussion which saw founders?Zeke Steer?from?Milbotix,?Jakub Dziegielowski?from?Bactery?and?Joshua Rees-Garbutt from?neo-fossil?dive into how accelerators are catalysts for innovation with panel host,?Carrie B. The programme then closed with a deep tech mixer at our 1023 Bar, bringing attendees and the wider?Science Creates community together to meet and connect in the heart of our Old Market incubator. Thank you to the?Conception X?team for collaborating with us on this immersive event and joining us to share our combined expertise on deep tech acceleration.
