“Backcountry has a passion-based culture like I’ve never experienced in my career. Each of our Herd is an advocate for the outdoors and outfitting our customers to be their best selves in the outdoors. On Monday mornings everyone chats about the cool stuff they did over the weekend (mountain biking, skiing, rafting, running) and then figures out how to share that stoke with our customers. ”
Our leaders embody the goat spirit and make Backcountry the amazing place it is.
Leadership.
We get people who get outside—plain and simple. This is about gear, grit, and connecting people to their passions. Our leaders make our Herd better. Backcountry.com began in 1996 with two guys, a stack of avalanche beacons, and a garage in Park City, Utah. Our roots were humble, and we've grown since then, but our vision is still clear: to provide the best outdoor gear—and to be the best at doing it.
Backcountry Way of Life.
Backcountry was born from a love of gear and a passion for exploring the mountains. This is camping, trail running, mountain biking, alpine and Nordic skiing, mountaineering, backpacking and more—all under one roof. Our values are: Customer Obsessed, Problem Solvers, Curious Go-Getters, Spread the Stoke, and Committed Collaborators.
Why Utah.
Utah is pretty cool. There are many National Parks located within a few hours drive from our Corporate Office. A haven for all things outdoors, world-class skiing, hiking and mountain bike trails, and tall peaks are all in our backyard. Salt Lake City is a growing, unique, and lively city that lots of our Herd call home. Coffee shops, concerts, and easy access to the mountains make it a dream. We are thankful for the backyard we have and find it to be the perfect home base for our mission.
