These little haircare beauties officially rolled out nationally at Whole Foods Market today and on Amazon Premium Beauty ?? Congrats Babo Botanicals team ??

?? Is a carton bottle truly "better for the environment" compared to regular plastic, aluminum or glass bottles? ?? Well, yes and no... YES ? : A thorough Life Cycle Analysis comparing bottles of the same size in each of these materials concluded that our carton bottle has the lowest impact on 7 out of the 8 environmental factors when measuring its footprint from raw material extraction all the way to its end of life, and the least impact overall: - Less fossil fuel use - Less greenhouse gas emissions - Less water consumption - Less mineral resource use - Less greenhouse gas emissions with carbon uptake - Less freshwater ecotoxicity - Less human impact NO ? : The idea that any packaging could be "better" for the environment hides the harsh reality that any piece of packaging, no matter how virtuous it might be said to be, has detrimental impacts on our planet. At Babo Botanicals, we think semantics matter, so our answer is that a carton bottle is not exactly "better" but rather "less harmful" for the environment when compared to plastic, aluminum or glass. Our Life Cycle Analysis shows carton bottles have the least impact on the environment when compared to virgin or recycled plastic, glass and aluminum: less carbon emissions, less fossil fuel, water, and mineral resource use, less freshwater ecotoxicity and less human health impact. ??Surprising fact: even plastic beats glass and aluminum in full lifecycle impact, with a crucial finding that most of the environmental impact of a product occurs before it gets into the hands of the final user!
