This existing kitchen didn’t need much to make it feel finished, however, to reintroduce the character and warmth typically found in older homes, we replaced the flooring throughout the entire first floor with custom-milled red oak.? The new flooring, supplied by Allegheny Hardwood, was stained onsite and mimics the original narrow planks of the home. We also enlarged the window above the kitchen sink to increase visibility to the backyard and to let more natural light enter the space. ? ? This custom bar became the heart of the home, providing both a stylish entertaining area and additional kitchen storage. High-gloss cabinetry, painted in the same hue as the entry paneling, is paired with antique brass details, an antiqued mirror, and a marble backsplash with petite brass sconce lighting. This central feature ties the space together, creating a beautiful yet functional focal point. ? We were brought into this Mt. Lebanon home to design the finishing touches after a recent renovation. We gained inspiration for the interior color palette from our client’s impressive collection of artwork. The entry was transformed with dramatic paint from Farrow and Ball which sets the tone for the rest of the first floor. Special heirlooms are showcased on the entry table including a vintage set of jingle bells that are from our client’s grandparents farm. As we make our way from the entry to the formal living room, you’ll notice elements of the entryway carried into this adjacent space.? Bold painted wall paneling is repeated on the fireplace wall, and artwork and antiques from the owner’s personal collection are seamlessly integrated into the design. ? We added windows on either side of the fireplace to increase the amount of natural light entering the space, and included several custom details to add layers and texture.? The custom designed mirror above the fireplace repeats the angles of the vintage mantle, and specific fabric was chosen for the drapery panels, pillows, and swivel chairs. We are so excited to introduce our newest Associate Designer, Lauren French! Lauren grew up in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and knew from an early age that she wanted a career in interior design. After attending Mount Lebanon High School, she went to Mercyhurst University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. After graduating she came back to Pittsburgh to start her career in the commercial design industry.? At that time she also obtained her NCIDQ certification to become a licensed interior designer. After years in the commercial world she made the switch the residential as she knew it was her true passion. As an Associate Designer, Lauren is responsible for taking a project from conception through completion. She believes good design has the power to create meaningful experiences and views each project as a unique opportunity for creative problem solving to provide the best possible outcome for each client. We are so happy to have Lauren as part of the Babb & Mack team! Join us in welcoming her!
