If she wants to sell to the room, she should go to a tradeshow, a conference, or a vendor fair. There’s where people go to shop for vendors. That’s not the purpose at a networking event. People go to networking events or join networking groups to meet thought leaders, to get honest opinions about business challenges, build relationships, and give referrals. So, what is he doing wrong? To me, I think a big mistake that Norman is doing is that he’s going to every networking event. He probably should be more selective and specifically look for events where the organizers match people up ahead of time. I mean, think about it, if you go an event with 25/50/100 people, but you have no idea who to talk to? That’s like shooting in the dark. That’s why getting paired up ahead of time gives you a leg up.     Ever go to a #networking event to meet referral partners and you feel like you’re just trading elevator pitches? Well, that’s because the organizers didn’t think through HOW to facilitate the networking so that you walk-away with something that you can actually use in a conversation with potential buyers. That’s why at B2BSalesMagic, ???? ?????? ???????????? ?????????????? that are specifically engineered to do this. So, as a heads-up, ???????? ?????? ?????? ?? ???????????? ?????????????? ???????? ????’???? ?????????? ???? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ?????????? during the break-out sessions. ?? ???????? ????????-???????????? ???? ?????? ??????????? Obvious question, right. You should be able answer that very easily. ?? ?????? ?????????? ???? ???????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ??????? Specifically, who REGULARLY interacts with your ideal buyer? Because think about it. Someone who interacts with them, once in a blue moon, is probably not in a good position to make introductions for you. Now, with that referral partner in mind, here’s the 3rd prompt: ?? ???????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ?????????? ???? ???????? ????????????? So, instead of forcing your partners to ask questions like “Do you need any sales training? Do you need a CRM? Do you need [whatever it is that you’re selling]?”, which are very salesy and just turns people off, arm your partners with a thought-provoking question. Let me show you 2 good examples. The first one is from Jen Halpern of Soft Sell Coaching. Her question is: ?????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ???????????? ??????? Simple question, right? But also insightful and might even turn on a lightbulb. The second one is from Alyssa McGinn of infoFluency. Her question is: ???????? ?????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ??????????????????, ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????????? ???? ??????-???????? ???? ????????? Another good one, right? And, what I like about those questions is that ?????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ????????????????????????????, ?????? ???????? ???????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ???? ?? ?????????????????? ????????????????????????, if it calls for it. So! What insightful question do you want your referral partner to ask for you? #referrals #networkingstrategy?

We have in-person and online communities for B2B entrepreneurs and business development professionals. B2BSalesMagic was the first store in the mall.
