The B20 Club of Illinois recently partnered with the Mason City Fire Protection District to test SoyFoam, a soy-based, biodegradable fire suppression foam free of harmful PFAS. Over the last 60 years, the Illinois Soybean Association has looked for ways to grow opportunities for farmers including the introduction of?#biodiesel. Today, Illinois is one of the largest biodiesel-producing states supporting nearly 2,000 jobs and generating $1.6 billion of household income. The USDA Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) is currently open and will close on June 30 at 3:30 PM (CT). HBIIP seeks to significantly increase the sales and use of higher ethanol and biodiesel blends by improving the infrastructure for renewable fuels made from U.S. agricultural products. Successful applicants will receive cost-share grants covering up to 75 percent of total eligible project costs, capped at $5 million. Eligible applicants include fueling stations, convenience stores, hypermarket fueling stations, fleet facilities, fuel distribution facilities, and similar entities with capital investments. With $90 million available each quarter, if you miss the June 30 deadline, you can submit your application for the next quarter by September 30, 2024. On June 12, ISA and the American Lung Association hosted the “Fueling the Future” tour at the Incobrasa biodiesel plant in Gilman, IL. The event offered attendees a comprehensive overview of biodiesel production processes and sustainability practices within the industry. The tour was attended by Rep. Jackie Haas, Rep. Jason Bunting, presumptive incoming senator Chris Balkema, and B20 Club Fleet Managers. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into in-depth discussions with each other to help better understand the application of biodiesel and its benefits.
