Unlike national or e-commerce campaigns, local advertising relies heavily on familiarity and credibility. People don’t just click and buy immediately—they research, check reviews, and want to feel confident before doing business with local companies. Here’s a list of why branding and trust can be the breaking point for a local digital campaign: 1. People Buy from Brands They Recognize A well-branded local business—consistent logo, colors, messaging, and tone—creates an instant sense of familiarity. When users see your ad, they don’t feel like they’re being sold to by a stranger. They actually recognize you. 2.     We’re so excited to share a project we’ve been working on just in time for the #newyear for The Poe Museum, in Richmond VA.???? Earlier this year we began working with the team at The Poe Museum to modernize their website and create an experience designed to work toward their organization’s objectives and the big things they have planned for 2025. One special aspect of their site is the inclusion of “Collections” a catalog of the world’s largest public collection of Edgar Allen Poe artifacts, works, belongings and memorabilia - All Online. Events have also been a special focus of The Poe Museum, so we ensured that their site promoted their regular events, front and center.     ? Seeing Your Work In The Wild ? There’s something uniquely satisfying about seeing your designs in action, especially in a dynamic setting like the VCU basketball arena. Last Friday, we had the incredible opportunity to watch the digital banners and jumbotron advertisements we designed light up the stadium. It was a proud moment not just for me but for our entire team at B&G Collective . At our agency, we specialize in?digital paid media advertising, but this project challenged us to step into a different arena—literally. Designing for LED signage in a stadium brought unique considerations: 1. Dimension adjustments?to fit unconventional display formats. 2. Light and contrast optimization?to ensure clarity and visibility in a high-energy, brightly lit environment. 3. Audience impact—our designs needed to grab attention in mere seconds while enhancing the live game-day experience. These challenges proved the importance of having a experienced design and creative team. Talented and versatile designers can seamlessly adapt to different formats, design languages, and client goals. Whether it’s a Google ad campaign or a stadium display, the ability to think strategically and execute flawlessly across mediums is what sets our team apart.     ?? No shock here friends but.. 90% of quick judgments made by consumers about products have to do with color. It might seem surprising, but it makes sense when we consider how much of our perception is tied to visual cues. ? So why color? Color is one of the first things we notice, even before brand names, logos, or messaging. Within an instant, it conveys mood, personality, and shapes our perception of quality. For example, a vibrant color might communicate energy and fun, while a muted tone might evoke calmness and sophistication. In essence, the color you choose as a business owner becomes a shortcut for consumers to “feel” what your brand or product represents. ?? What does this mean for your business? ? All In How They Notice You: Color plays a huge role in building brand identity. Think of iconic brands, and it’s likely their colors pop into your mind first. Consistent color usage reinforces brand recognition and familiarity, helping you stand out. ? Consider The Tone: Colors carry emotional weight. By choosing the right color palette, you can immediately communicate your brand's values, appeal to your target persona, and even influence purchasing behavior. ?     Sr. Digital Advertising Strategist | Reach The Right People At The Right Time

    I was recently working with a client who had begun advertising on Google about 30 days prior. Another agency had done the setup, and there was some issues with performance that needed to be addressed. So, I began a simple audit of the account and uncovered a few things, After reviewing conversion actions I noticed that their account was tracking landing page views as a primary conversion action. To the uninitiated, this is a HUGE no-no, but I thought it would be helpful to actually explain why. And give some insights as to how we would treat an account that with this issue. Quality Affects Optimization - Google Ads relies on the data we feed it, so if landing page views are treated as conversions, Google’s algorithms think every visitor is a lead. This confusion misguides bidding strategies, targeting, and optimizations, often leading to wasted spend and missed performance goals. Once we reset the client’s conversions to track real leads, (the usual stuff, like phone calls, forms, and bookings) their cost per conversion dropped by 35% within weeks, with a surge in qualified leads. Conversions Fuel Smart Bidding Smart bidding relies on accurate conversion data to adjust bids and placements automatically. Research shows that campaigns with accurate conversion tracking see up to a 20% higher conversion rate on average. Poor conversion setup, like counting page views instead of actual leads, misleads Google’s algorithm, compromising its ability to optimize for real results. Especially in new accounts, accurately defining conversions—whether it’s a form fill, call, or sale—is a huge part of the process. Getting this right allows Google to learn and improve, targeting your true audience with higher precision. I know the phrase, “Garbage in, garbage out.” has become popular in the past few years with the AI discussion, but it's important here too. Without quality conversion data, campaigns can quickly lose direction and efficiency. My final notes to the client and to others is that if you REALLY want to track page views do it separately, or just use “clicks”, typically for most, that will be more than sufficient. #ads #googleads #richmondadvertising

    I’m a designer and here’s a stat that hurts my heart… 85% of organizations have brand guidelines, only about 30% actually enforce them consistently. Friends, this gap isn't just a stat—it’s a real problem that impacts brand cohesion and customer experience. Why does this happen? Brand guidelines are often created with the best intentions… but here’s the thing, most lack the follow-through necessary to make them effective. Many teams are stretched thin, leading to shortcuts in execution. Also, without a system for brand oversight, it’s easy for consistency to slip—especially when teams prioritize speed over detail in day-to-day operations. Imagine this… an organization develops a branding guideline and strategy that speaks from their heart and also prioritizes the persona they wish to attract. The time and money are spent, but the implementation is missed. The brand that values warmth in connection is now filled with team members who don’t make eye contact with guests, forgets to respond to emails in a timely manner and half of the staff is still using the logo that was created 20 years ago. Here’s why it matters: 1. It’s All About Trust: Brand consistency builds familiarity, which in turn fosters trust. Inconsistent branding weakens recognition and can leave customers with mixed impressions. 2. United Front: From social media posts to customer service, every interaction shapes perception. Clear brand guidelines ensure a seamless experience across all touchpoints. 3. On The Same Page: Consistency helps align everyone within the organization, reducing confusion and empowering teams to confidently represent the brand. To see real results, businesses need to prioritize brand enforcement just as they do with any other strategy. This means educating teams, assigning accountability, and having processes in place to keep the brand true to itself—across every department and every channel.
