Whale, this is interesting! ?? After analyzing 8 years of recorded humpback whale songs, a team of scientists discovered that these majestic melodies share the same statistical structure found in human language, emphasizing both as culturally transmitted behaviors. By combining patterns, structure, and individual elements into phrases, humpback whales can create complex songs up to 30 minutes long. This discovery suggests that learning and cultural transmission play a role in shaping communication across different species, not just humans! Is your Sanger sequencing read quality falling short of expectations? Follow these troubleshooting steps for the best results?? 1) Optimize your primer: ensure it fits between 18-24 base length with 45-55% GC content at an annealing temperature of 55-60°C. 2) Check for contaminants: avoid EDTA in elution buffer and thoroughly wash ethanol remnants from DNA template isolation. 3) Check for secondary structures: the Sanger reaction could be negatively affected if the DNA template contains GC-rich hairpins or secondary structures around the primer binding or sequencing regions.
