Some heroes have got four legs, so today on K9 Veterans Day, we honor all of the dogs that have served in our military! Our military dogs have been used in every war in U.S. history and today, the Department of Defense has more than 1,600 military working dogs. These K9s are trained under one of four specialties: sentry dogs to detect people and guard military bases; patrol dogs to detect snipers and ambushes; explosive detection to find bombs and other explosives; and casualty dogs to search for deceased individuals in obscure locations. Thank you all for your service! ??
