AZ Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Reserve(AZ ESGR) Employer Outreach Bill Adams presented a Patriot Award to Carl Speckels and @Shawna Killiard with the Phoenix Police Department Crime Laboratory with SSgt @Sara Weaver from the 944th Fighter Wing. Weaver shared during her presentation, “Carl supported my decision, over four years ago, to join the Air Force Reserve when I had already been an established employee with the laboratory. When I left for basic training in 2019, I was still in a training status. Still, Carl worked with me after I returned from training and active-duty orders to quickly get back into my specialized training and to gain back some of the skills I lost during my nearly 1.5 years away from my position. When I was called up for a short-order non-voluntary deployment in 2021 - 2022, Carl understood my duties and worked with me, getting settled back into my position at the lab when I returned from my deployment five months later. Carl has also supported the time off I have had to take from the lab for required and crucial training with my reserve unit. #AZESGR #PatriotAward
关于我们
AZ ESGR, a Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 80 volunteers located across the entire State of Arizona. Volunteers, hailing from small business and industry, government, education, and prior military service bring a vast wealth of experience to assist in serving employers, Service members, and their families. Together with Headquarters ESGR staff in Washington DC, and a small cadre of support staff on the AZ State Committee, volunteers work to promote and enhance employer support for military service in the Guard and Reserve. ESGR has served our country for more than 45 years, fostering a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. These citizen warriors could not defend and protect us at home and abroad without the continued promise of meaningful civilian employment for themselves and their families. ESGR has continued to adapt to meet the needs of Reserve Component members, their families, and America’s employers by joining forces with a network of other national, state, and local government and professional trade organizations. Together, We All Serve!

AZ Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Reserve(AZ ESGR) Volunteers Larry Jacobs, Mike Leonard, and Maria Vrba (with the assistance of 6 ROTC Army Cadets from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) participated in HOPE FEST AZ with an ESGR Booth at the Courthouse Square in Prescott, Arizona. Hope Fest AZ was started 12 years ago by Jaye Lene Long (Double Gold Star Mother) as a free event for the community in Northern Arizona. HOPE FEST Arizona 2024—the 12th Annual happened on Saturday, September 14th, at Prescott’s beautiful Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza, where the community came alive as thousands in the community enjoyed music, guest speakers, a multitude of connections, and community services as part of the HOPE Serves Family Resource Fair with FREE amusements in the Family Fun Zone, and a bright-n-shiny Car and motorcycle Show! The event’s name recognition has grown within our community along with their dedicated mission to serve The Veterans, Active & Reserve Military, First Responders, and the vulnerable of Yavapai County. Documented survey results and endorsement responses indicate that guests are engaged in improving our community. They see the festival as a way to become actively involved locally. Our ESGR group had the opportunity to speak to several community members and provide information on the Employer's Support of the Guard and Reserve. We also spoke to several employers, veterans, Guard & Reserve members, and active-duty military members. We were especially captivated by a current active-duty F-35 Major at Luke AFB whose husband was a Chiropractor in Prescott. Major Steven’s was impressive since she transitioned into the Officer ranks and flew both F-22 and F-35 aircraft as an enlisted member. Volunteers also had the opportunity to talk to several employers and provide information to assist them with the knowledge they needed for their Guard and Reserve employees. The Employers Support for the Guard and Reserve sends out a special thanks to Jaye Lene Long for all her efforts to recognize the importance of our Military Service members, Police, Fire personnel, and the vulnerable in our community. We also acknowledge the loss of her two sons, Travis, and Brandon Selinsky, and commend her for creating the Hope Fest AZ in honor of their memory. Jaye Lene Long, the Arizona Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve Volunteers, “Salutes You” for all your efforts. For more information on Hope Fest AZ, go to https://lnkd.in/gFY6PfSA #AZESGR
