The conference room at Vinson & Elkins was the perfect location for our Female Founders in Climate Tech roundtable breakfast this morning. I was blown away by the diverse array of women who are founding and building startups in the climate and energy transition space. My wonderful host committee, including Cynthia Walker, jhana porter, Marya Cokar, Christie Obiaya, Lynn Frostman, and Janice Tran, worked to curate a set of conversation topics that would help to build connection between female climate leaders here in Houston. With the help of Yin Lu, Anna Scott, PhD, Marna Meier, LSSBB, Laureen Meroueh, PhD, Nour Ghadanfar as table leaders, we engaged in a wide range of discussions, from the pace of energy transition to funding gaps to team building to personal resilience. The consensus was overwhelming -- we all want to do this again!!!! I'd like to extend my deepest appreciation to our sponsors Sarah Morgan at Vinson & Elkins, Jen Sudduth at Sudduth Search, and Hanh Nguyen at OCI Global. Thank you for supporting us to pull this event together. Thanks also to allies Jimmy Chalk and Peter Resha for your behind-the-scenes and front-of-office efforts to help pull off a seamless event, along with your respective colleagues Jacob McCullough and Tessa Buckley. And of course, Jane Stricker, for helping me see a path to getting this done. Have a great rest of Houston Climate & Energy Startup Week!

Axis Sky Renewables uses a vertical-axis wind turbine without a tower. This revolutionary design translates to a tremendous reduction in steel and therefore a significant reduction in CAPEX. The newly designed blades function as a keel, like that of a sailboat. As the energy of the wind causes the turbine to rotate, the structure maintains its stability by using the keel and the counter-turning momentum. Our mission is to harness the power of the wind to create a sustainable energy future. We are committed to developing innovative and efficient wind energy solutions that not only reduce carbon emissions but also provide clean, affordable, and reliable power to communities around the world. Our goal is to lead the transition to a greener and more sustainable planet by delivering cutting-edge wind energy technology that powers a brighter future for all.

Thanks to the ACCEL program for the multitude of opportunities! Andre Gafford Gabrielle Gafford
Bio-embellishments made without microplastics. Vertical-axis wind turbines. Building materials that forgo toxic chemicals. These are just a few of the innovations being developed by the entrepreneurs in this year's #ACCEL program—and which we were honored to celebrate at the Year 2 Showcase! ?? Too often, structural inequities put critical funding, networking connections, resources, and opportunities out of reach for BIPOC founders. A program by Greentown and Browning the Green Space, ACCEL is a year-long intensive for underrepresented climatetech entrepreneurs that combines acceleration, incubation, and extensive mentorship to bolster the businesses. We celebrated this year's cohort of incredible founders at the Year 2 Showcase featuring pitches, a technology exhibition, and networking with key climate action leaders from throughout the climatetech ecosystem. Thank you to all who attended and continue to support these groundbreaking companies! ?? AtmoSpark Technologies Inc. is an atmospheric water generation company with a patented electro-condensation technology, which has a lower energy footprint than that of current water-generation methods, led by Tejus Mane. ?? Aquasaic is harnessing biology to clean water for planetary and human health, led by Shalmalee Pandit and Nikita Patil, PhD. ?? Axis Sky Renewables creates innovative wind solutions, specializing in vertical-axis wind turbines that are less expensive to produce, deploy, and maintain than traditional wind turbines, led by Andre Gafford. ?? Carbon Negative Solutions Inc is creating smart-city-ready, carbon-negative concrete products, led by Keith Crossland. ?? Cellsense develops interactive bio-embellishments that create new possibilities for designers while eliminating microplastics and replacing fossil-fuel-based material at scale, led by Aradhita Parasrampuria. ?? EcoForge is developing affordable, high-performance building materials from local agricultural residues, replacing energy-intensive, fossil-based materials, led by Myung Bender, Rongyu Na, and Alex (Kaixi) Yang. ?? Sankofa Dynamics creates low-cost, eco-friendly solutions for water, air, and energy problems, led by Chauncy Spencer. Thank you to Funders Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Microsoft, Equinor, Ion Houston, Barr Foundation, bp, and Somernova and Curriculum + Resources Partner VentureWell for supporting this program!
