ChatGPT's new ad-free search engine is likely to shake up an industry worth more than $200 billion globally and already shifting with the rise of generative AI. This new search tool could accelerate the transition away from traditional search. "It gives people answers faster, but it gives people answers tailored to them instead of pages of links," AJ Ghergich, a global VP at search engine optimization firm Botify, tells Axios.

A task force is launching to help the incoming government update the U.S. vision for science and #tech. State of play:?The group?of scientists, CEOs, university presidents and former elected officials plans to circulate its draft Vision for American Science and Technology (VAST) to transition teams in the next administration and Congress before presenting a final report early in 2025. NEW: OpenAI has added a real-time search engine to ChatGPT. It will be available starting today for paid ChatGPT Plus and Team users starting Thursday. Paid enterprise and educational subscribers will gain access in the next few weeks, and all free users will get it in coming months.
