Partner Jason Murata will speak on the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA)’s CLE Web Series: Hot Topics in Chemical & Biotech Patent Practice on April 2nd. Speakers will discuss polymorph patents in both US and EP practice, the nuances of Orange Book listings in view of recent case law developments, what they expect from the new administration, the complexities of claiming numerical ranges in both US and EP practice and, the implications of In re Chamberlain for chemical and biotech practitioners. Jason will be speaking about the Sonos v. Google prosecution laches case and its potential implications for patent practice.

On March 24, 2025, the United States Patent & Trademark Office issued a new Memorandum providing guidance on discretionary denials — or Fintiv denials — for inter partes review challenges based on co-pending patent litigation. Notably, the Memo states that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board will again apply the Fintiv factors when there is a parallel proceeding before the International Trade Commission.
