The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) hosted Georgios alongside panelists from DB, Franklin Templeton & Memento Blockchain to discuss "A Blockchain Future for Funds & Fund Servicing." ?? Interop Labs APAC lead Shawn Lim shared the stage with leaders from Aptos Labs, Avalanche + DigiFT in an invitation-only Insights track at the inaugural Layer 1 Conference, where the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) convened leaders of the "Global Layer One" (GL1) initiative. Project DAMA 2 has been unveiled as part of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Project Guardian initiative, revealing key components provided by Memento Blockchain + Axelar in a tokenized-assets pilot led by Deutsche Bank. The implementation connects components built on Avalanche, Stellar and zkSync. The resulting multichain asset-servicing pilot will deliver: ?Soulbound token-based digital identity. ?Paymaster gas fee management functionality. ?Tokenized fund creation and issuance/ ?Modular smart contracts for asset servicing. ?Seamless interoperability. Interop Labs has enabled this pilot to achieve full interoperability, connecting through the Axelar network to Avalanche Fuji and Stellar. This achievement opens the door to future integration with over 69 blockchain networks. No matter what happens tomorrow, it's evident that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology are on the ballot. Globally, regulators and policymakers are considering regulations that make sense. In this American Banker #BankThink op-ed, Lewis Cohen and I advocate for them to consider the benefits they can gain from these new technologies. Whether the focus is on market data reliability, safety of customer assets or the need to track assets, decentralized blockchain networks provide improvements over the current financial system. In addition, regulators and policymakers gain the new ability of "self-sovereign regulatory oversight," thereby becoming direct, non-intermediated market observers themselves. Though, as we acknowledge, there are still questions to be answered, regulators and policymakers should try to help provide resolutions rather than run from them. #blockchain #cryptocurrencies #regulation
