Partnering with Communities to Prevent Veteran Suicide
关于我们
Our mission is to partner with communities to prevent veteran suicide. Our programs accomplish this by starting at the community level and understanding the unique situations of veterans and their families. We connect local veteran-serving organizations with the appropriate resources, services, and partners that they need to support veterans, their families, and caregivers at every stage of veterans’ lives. Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for veterans and to end veteran suicide by empowering local communities to serve them proactively and holistically before a crisis occurs. Our upstream approach to veteran empowerment is a four-step plan to Connect, Educate, Advocate, and Collaborate with veterans, their families, and caregivers, and the communities that support them. Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for veterans and to end veteran suicide by empowering local communities to serve them proactively and holistically before a crisis occurs.

?? This #WarriorWednesday, we salute trailblazer and former U.S. Coast Guard C-130 Pilot & Executive Officer, Jeanine McIntosh Menze ???? McIntosh was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Her family relocated to Canada before moving to South Florida, where she graduated high school. After graduating from Florida International University in 2001, she decided to pursue her dream of flying, taking flying lessons at North Perry Airport. Menze joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 2003 after graduating from the Coast Guard Officer Candidate School and earned her aviator wings in 2005. ?? ?? This accomplishment marked Jeanine as the first black woman aviator in the 215-year history of the USCG. ? "When you look at the numbers of professional Black aviators, Black women, aviators, to be specific, the numbers account we account for less than 1% of in the aviation industry ... It's all about, seeing is believing. So letting some other minority little kids know that this is something that they can do." Jeanine served as a pilot of the HC-130 Hercules airplanes and flew rescue missions for the U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Jeanine retired from the USCG in 2024 and spends her time volunteering with various organizations, including the OBAP - Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, with their Girls Launch program. ?? #WomensHistoryMonth
