Association of Women in the Metal Industries (AWMI) is an organization of professionals, founded in California in 1981, to promote and develop the growth of women in the metal industries. AWMI believes that women in similar industries can benefit themselves and their companies through relationships, education and shared knowledge. The programs and activities of AWMI are intended to enhance members' skills and experience, address challenges confronting the industry, and promote members' career growth with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of women employed in the metal industries. Membership is open to both women and men who are seeking to develop all aspects of their professional development and career advancement. We host meetings and seminars throughout the year to help train and develop the next generation of professionals in this industry. We welcome both women and men to join us. We're just built a little differently up here... Last night we had our first Chapter Members Appreciation Night out on the Milwaukee River with a boat cruise! The weather was a balmy 70 degrees with slight sneezing mist and humidity of what felt like 200%. But even that couldn't keep these hardy ladies from enjoying an evening of adventure and laughs! Thank you to those that ventured out and to Capt. Tim, first mate Mike & our guard dog Galileo!! We promise the next 3 events will be indoors. ??
