This Saturday January 11, U.S. Navy amphibious warship Harrisburg LPD-30 was christened in Pascagoula, Mississippi! This is the Navy’s 14th San Antonio-class vessel and first Flight II model. We congratulate everyone who has played a crucial role in the design and construction of this ship, including suppliers across the nation that provide crucial parts and services for these state-of-the-art assets. On Wednesday, General Eric Smith, the 39th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps made an official visit to Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS.? ? During his visit, General Smith reviewed the two amphibious warships currently under construction, Bougainville?(LHA 8) and?Harrisburg?(LPD 30). He highlighted the crucial role they play in "[projecting] power in unforeseen circumstances" and underscored that "these ships are vital to national security." ? To deliver these crucial assets, it is important that the amphibious warship industrial base receive steady and predictable funding. After an impactful deployment, the USS Boxer (LHD-4) is leaving the Western Pacific and making its way home to San Diego. The USS Boxer successfully participated in key operations, including humanitarian aid in the Philippines after Typhoon Krathon and exercises in the South China Sea with U.S. allies.
