The Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California that is dedicated to advancing and supporting the positions of women in the architecture and design fields. As a Professional Society it provides support to working professionals through educational programming, networking and mentoring. An AWA Foundation raises funds for scholarships for women pursuing degrees in the design fields. AWA+D membership reflects the diversity of the design profession. The organization welcomes those interested in all areas of design, including but not limited to: architects, landscape architects, urban planners, engineers, interior designers, graphic designers, environmental consultants and designers, artists, students, and others interested in supporting the goals of the Association.

  • As the art week in LA has begun, you should check out ?Los Angeles by Color: 7th and Kohler. Los Angeles by Color is a chromatic visual series started in 2016 by Los Angeles artist, designer, and educator Ashley Margo. Part two of the series includes 16 panels (ribbons) totaling 120 feet of digital collage. The color ribbons weave together parts of the city that will never physically be connected, but exist as a spatial embodiment of how color has shaped and connects LA’s landscape. Los Angeles by Color received the A+D Museum Design Award for On the Wall in 2021. In partnership with Inner-City Arts, Los Angeles by Color: 7th and Kohler is open to the public February 15–March 9, 2025. For the first time, the Los Angeles by Color ribbons are in a space together. Ashley Margo the 2020 AWAF mid career fellowship recipient?and also past AWA+D graphic design chair. She is excited to share that the work she did during her fellowship is taking its next step and will be shown for the first time collectively in a space together. Ashley holds a Masters of Architecture from USC, and a Bachelor's of Design from University of Florida with minors in Art History and Urban and Regional Planning.
