I received a text the other day from one of my favorite customers while chatting about her students: "We are a very small program. That's why I'm blessed to have these products because every single student will use them at some point, and it gives them the opportunity to practice skills they don't get to do in clinical." In case you haven't heard, high fidelity nursing simulation isn't reserved for large universities. ----- Last fall, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Dodie Murphy over at Northwestern Connecticut Community College to enhance their nursing program with Avkin's wearable simulators - and she couldn't be more thrilled about how much this learning modality has transformed the student experience. However, that doesn't mean it was an easy road to get here. Finding the necessary funding is always a major concern for smaller schools, but like I told her on our very first call - "The money always exists somewhere. Where there's a will, there's a way." And with tenacity like hers? We worked together to research and brainstorm and plan ahead, and eventually... we made it happen. This semester, her students are getting hands-on learning experiences that wouldn't have been possible otherwise - and the feedback I've received as she texts me excited updates (like the one above) has been so incredibly rewarding. I'm lucky to work for a company that encourages and enables me to establish TRUE partnerships with customers that goes beyond the typical sales experience. Helping Dodie and her students has been an honor and a pleasure, and I look forward to extending the same care and attention to whoever else is ready to take that leap into enhanced simulation.
