The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has officially certified Avid Core as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firm in PA. Recently, our Geospatial Management Specialist Carolee Doughty attended the Esri Federal GIS Conference in Washington DC for three days of extensive training, learning, and networking with the geographic information system (GIS) community, government leaders, and academics. Carolee enjoyed insightful plenary sessions on the Experience Builder feature and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's Marine Materials Information System developed by NV5 Michael Forlenza, exciting demos leveraging GeoAI Assistant Tools and LLMs to combine spatial and nonspatial data for situational awareness, and technical sessions approaching custom stakeholder engagement ArcGIS Sites. She also participated in the Esri User Research Lab as a tester, leveraging her previous experience meeting with the Research & Design team to provide user feedback on their online metadata page as the team studied ways to use AI to maximize efficiency in completing the item details section. Closing with the Women in GIS event and the AI Summit, Carolee left inspired to continue sharpening her skills in new geospatial software applications and connecting with fellow industry professionals in the DMV region.
