This recent article by Kerry Lynch highlights the timely changes with the FAA’s shift to a fully electronic Pilot Records Database (PRD). What to Know: ?? The Sept 9 deadline marked the final transition and sunsetting of the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA). ?? Data Requirements: Commercial operators must submit historical training and performance data back to 2005, and fractional providers to 2010. ?? Easier Access: The PRD provides faster access to essential pilot records, a big advantage as the industry accelerates hiring. ?? Transparency: The PRD enhances transparency, giving employers detailed insights into a pilot’s technical performance. ? Verification: Employers can now verify critical records like check ride history, moving beyond self-reported information. ? Administrative Burden: Managing PRD compliance adds substantial duties, especially for smaller operators. ?? Complex Compliance: The rule brings recurring, complex compliance requirements that affect a broad range of operators. Jennifer E. Pickerel, President of Aviation Personnel International, explains: "The PRD is a positive change as it creates more accountability and transparency around a pilot’s technical performance. Instead of taking someone’s word on whether they’ve ever failed a check ride, we now have a way to verify." ICYMI: Last week, Jennifer E. Pickerel orchestrated a panel at #NBAA2024 called, “Enhancing Employee Experience: Culture, Compensation & Beyond.” She invited compensation expert Christopher Broyhill, Ph.D. to be her co-moderator as well as three exceptional Part 91 flight department leaders representing both public and private companies: Robb Patton, Rick Rogers and #JohnShilstone. To win the #bizav talent game, leaders must balance a three-legged stool that signifies culture, compensation and quality of life. “If one leg is out of balance, the whole structure collapses,” explained?Dr. Chris Broyhill. “Even the strongest culture won’t retain employees if compensation is lacking.” This balancing act sparked an honest discussion with aviation leaders about how these three pillars work together—and where departments often stumble. Special thanks to David Thatcher, CAM, MBA, for helping amplify Jennifer's recap of this insightful session.
Great session by industry experts and recapped here by Jennifer E. Pickerel with Aviation Personnel International “Even the strongest culture won’t retain employees if compensation is lacking.”– Dr. Chris Broyhill “Compensation is transactional, but culture is transformational.” – John Shilstone “Psychological safety isn’t about everyone feeling good all the time. It’s about creating space where people feel safe to raise concerns without fear.” – Robb Patton “Leaving people out sends the message that they don’t matter. It erodes trust, and once trust is lost, it’s hard to get back.” – Rick Rogers “Transforming culture takes time. Transparency was key in building trust.” – John Shilstone https://lnkd.in/grdMZZX2
