?? Fueling the Future of Sustainable Aviation ???? Decarbonizing aviation isn’t just about ambition—it’s about action. Emerging technologies often face a critical gap between technical validation and commercial viability, where traditional capital is hesitant to step in. When progress stalls, catalytic philanthropy can be the spark that keeps innovation moving. That’s why ACT is proud to award a $135,000 grant to Dr. James W. Harris at the University of Alabama. His groundbreaking work transforms ethanol and oxygenates into jet fuel using novel catalysts—cutting energy use, expanding feedstock options, and paving the way for production of scalable, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). This is the kind of bold innovation that will reshape the future of flight. Accelerating breakthroughs in emerging technology to decarbonize aviation
关于我们
Aviation is a challenging but critical sector to decarbonize. The share of global CO2 emissions from aviation will grow from 3% today to almost 20% in 2050 if the aviation industry maintains business-as-usual. A portfolio of solutions is required to reach net-zero, and breakthroughs in emerging technologies (e.g., next-gen bio-based SAF, PtL synfuel, hydrogen-enabled technologies) are a critical component. Aviation Climate Taskforce (ACT) is founded on the purpose to accelerate breakthroughs in critical emerging technologies by 10 years. We invest to make these technologies more energy efficient, more affordable, and available at-scale sooner. We unite a global group of industry leaders committed to decarbonizing aviation. We recognize that if the aviation sector aims to decarbonize, the work needs to begin now.

Decarbonizing aviation requires the active partnership of traditional energy companies and access to vast institutional capital. After returning from Climate Week NYC and Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress in Houston, I’m inspired by the shift toward grounded, realistic discussions about the economic realities these organizations face. Public policy will be key to lowering the green premium, but until it arrives, innovative public-private partnerships are essential. Thanks to SAF Congress for pushing this crucial dialogue forward! #sustainable aviation #SAF

We’re thrilled to announce that Susteon, our grantee, has received a $5M award from ARPA-E’s GREENWELLS program! With an initial ACT grant of $400,000 in 2023, Susteon achieved proof-of-concept for a groundbreaking technology to produce sustainable aviation fuels. They’ve developed a revolutionary process to convert carbon dioxide into olefins and will now advance to creating kerosene-range hydrocarbons from carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and renewable electricity. Supported by Purdue University and TotalEnergies, this innovation is a major leap forward. We’re deeply grateful to our partners for their commitment to transformative change! #aviation #sustainability #susteon #totalenergies https://lnkd.in/ea5jHFAd

An insightful piece by Doug Arent at National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Ambitious decarbonization goals require unprecedented cross-sector collaboration. The name of the game will be unconventional partnerships to transform competitors into collaborators, enabling us to move faster and in a more commercial way. Trusted partners like NREL, who foster unity and collective action, are essential. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 Sustainable Aviation Energy Conference hosted by DFW International Airport and NREL. https://lnkd.in/gm7rrkhU
