Our Chief Growth Officer, Brian Jones, recently discussed how he found his purpose in healthcare—and it’s a story worth sharing! “I spent about 15 years in the federal IT and defense sector before healthcare found me. Starting my own business, I picked up a few healthcare clients and quickly fell in love with the intricacies of how care is delivered. But that love turned to frustration as I realized how fragmented and lacking the system truly was. The turning point came when my father passed after a long battle with cancer. Navigating the complex and often opaque processes of the healthcare system during that time was an eye-opener. I thought I understood healthcare. But I quickly realized that I knew nothing. I wasn’t alone in this confusion. Millions of others face the same struggle every day, many without the resources or knowledge to make sense of it all. That’s why I’m here—to help others navigate a system that can be overwhelming, to advocate for transparency, and to push for a healthcare delivery model that truly serves everyone. Nobody should feel lost when it comes to their health.” #HealthInsurance #HealthcareDelivery?

For the last four years, Alexander McKneely, Head of Associate Experience & HR Communications at Avēsis, has maintained a historic cemetery in his town. ?? The city didn’t look after it once the church it was attached to closed. ? That didn’t sit right with Alexander. Someone had to pay tribute to the people who came before him. Someone had to acknowledge and validate the lives they lived. So, he got out a weed whip and mower. His efforts have been personally rewarding and have encouraged others in the community to help, too. For Alexander, community means taking care of one another. ?? ?? True innovation in healthcare starts with collaboration. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Tina Saw DDS and Oral Genome to bring innovative solutions to some of the most underserved populations in healthcare—individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). ??? In a recent episode of The Podcast by KevinMD, our Chief Growth Officer Brian Jones and Tina Saw talked about using salivary testing to detect early signs of oral and systemic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular conditions. This non-invasive approach not only simplifies care for patients but empowers providers and caregivers with actionable insights to improve health. ?? Early results from our pilot in West Virginia highlight the promising potential of this approach. By using salivary testing, we were able to detect undiagnosed diabetes or pre-diabetes in 5 - 7% of participants—patients who otherwise had no idea they were at risk. ?? This isn’t just about technology—it’s about partnerships. Too often, managed care organizations are seen as adversaries by providers?. We aim to change that narrative. By working together with providers and offering innovative solutions, we can create a more integrated healthcare system that better serves both patients and providers. ?? ?? ?? ? Kids in sports can learn so many life lessons and healthy habits that can carry them into adulthood. To sum it all up, Miriam Ramirez may have said it best: “Sports have positively impacted not only our kids, but our family as well. We have met amazing coaches and fellow sports families who are now lifelong friends and love/care for my kids as their own. Without knowing it, kids are realizing the importance of community. Being part of a team challenges kids to consistently think of others and how their actions and words can affect the outcome of a situation and reaction in others, good or bad. For many, this is a child’s first exposure to having ‘a job’ or responsibility. My son, at times, is put in a role to be a defensive player and is aware that when he doesn’t do his job, his friends can get hurt. Every win or loss is a learning opportunity and prepares my kids for life as an adult, which we all know is not always easy. While being a parent to kids who are involved in multiple sports or are on a travel team can, at times, be a lot, it’s been so rewarding to see kids grow into independent natural leaders, learning from their mistakes and motivating themselves and others to keep going and give their best in everything they do.” ?? #NationalYouthSportsWeek #WholeHealth
