You really don’t need to rush into implementing AI. Let me explain... Before it can be truly effective, certain foundational pieces need to be in place. If your organization doesn’t have repeatable processes, documented policies, a solid data strategy, and a three-to-five-year technology roadmap, you’re not ready to implement AI tools yet. There’s a lot of pressure to adopt the latest AI-powered solutions, whether it’s an AI-driven chatbot or an automated customer service rep or agentic AI. But without the right foundation, these tools won’t deliver the value you're looking for. AI works best when organizations take a step-by-step approach, building the right levels of maturity first. During our recent livestream, someone asked how I ended up at Avero. Truth is, I never planned to be in #govtech. I started in private client banking, working my way up from teller to trust advisor. I learned professionalism, confidence, and how to hold my own in a room where not everyone looked like me. Along the way, I met Mr. Abhijit Verekar. He was a client I called on at the bank, and he challenged me with some of the hardest questions I’d ever been asked as a professional. We crossed paths again later in a leadership program, right after my position at the bank was eliminated. He invited me to interview at Avèro Advisors. I gave it a shot, took the assessment, and then very kindly told him there was no way I should be delivering ERP projects. But AV, being the persistent and visionary leader he is, stayed in touch. Eventually, he brought me in to help build out business development. Neither of us really knew what that would look like, but we figured it out. And I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built. I didn’t come from #tech. I didn’t know what #ERP was. But I had people around me who believed in me, even when I didn’t fully believe in myself. That made all the difference. Now I get to do work that’s meaningful, that impacts communities, and that continues to challenge and stretch me every day. Thank you to AV for seeing something in me I hadn’t seen yet.
