"(Avel eCare Crisis Care) will cut down on the fatigue of trying to navigate a mental health crisis and avoid a 12-hour medical clearance, or a six-hour drive to a state facility," said Chief Deputy Andy Runice, CPM of the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office. ? At Avel, we work alongside law enforcement to deescalate and support a person in a mental health crisis through telemedicine. Not only is our goal to bring safety back to the situation, but to help the individual with a plan moving forward. ? “I watched this happen live. This man poured his soul out to these people, and we came up with a safety plan. The recommendation was that he could stay home, and he didn’t need services, but there was a plan about what he’d do going forward," Lt. Tristan Kern said after witnessing firsthand our services in Bayfield County. ? We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Crisis Care service line in Washburn, our first site in the State of Wisconsin! “This program enables us to assist individuals in crisis by offering immediate services, ensuring they receive the necessary resources from the comfort of their own home,” said Lt. Tristan Kern from Bayfield County Sheriff's Office. “The co-responder model of behavioral health providers responding with law enforcement is the gold standard. Telehealth continues to be a part of the solution of increased turnover rate among EMTs and Paramedics. From 2021 to 2022, the turnover rate of full-time employees increased from 24% to 36% according to a recent study.
