Ten wind technicians from five different states are the first to experience the state-of-the-art training facility. Built earlier this year in Sherman County, Oregon, the NTC will help Avangrid bring new #wind and #solar technicians up to speed quickly and efficiently, while empowering hundreds of current technicians to become experts in their field. The Avangrid Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization focused on mission-driven giving to help address and reduce social and environmental inequities. This includes support for a diverse roster of organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, nOURish BRIDGEPORT Inc. (Conn.), Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG), SMART Reading (Ore.), and many others. Based in Orange, Connecticut, the #AvangridFoundation is the principal philanthropic arm of Avangrid. It was ambitious in 2017, when Avangrid became the first American utility to commit to carbon-neutral goals and set a target for 2035. It became even more ambitious in 2022, when we moved the date up – targeting 2030 (5 years earlier!) to achieve carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Wait – emissions have scopes? Solar installation is underway in California! ?? The first of about 105,000 #solar panels are going up at our Camino Solar project in Kern County, Calif. It will be our first #solar project in the state and will generate about $15 million in state and local taxes during its lifetime. When finished, Camino will soak up enough California sunshine to generate the same amount of energy used by about 14,000 U.S. homes. More: https://ow.ly/HAqT50TjCyb

It's #WorldEVDay! ???? At Avangrid, we're committed to helping customers and communities transition to a cleaner tomorrow. One way we are doing so is by helping electrify the transportation sector – from expanding access to EV chargers to assessing and supporting fleet #electrification to making sure the company responsibly integrates new EV load onto the electric grid with flexibility programs and pilots. The EV market share continues to grow within the states where we operate and currently accounts for approximately 10% of new vehicle sales. Our utilities currently have nearly 3,000 public EV charging points connected to their networks with a goal to have 15,000 by 2030. And we're implementing and expanding enrollment in “smart charging” programs that incentivize EV charging flexibility to reduce impact on the grid. We have also converted more than 11% of our own fleet vehicles to alternative energy vehicles with a goal to convert 60% by 2030, including 100% of the light-duty fleet.
