From Devens, MA to Everett, WA and soon ... Tri-Cities, WA the number sites in the US licensed to operate commercial fusion machines with tritium is growing. I'm incredibly excited to work with the Port of Benton, Tridec, PNNL, WSU and the wider Tri-Cities community to develop fusion technology in WA state. Specifically, we have a unique opportunity to build small low-cost fusion test stands to advance Fusion Materials & Technologies (FM&T) such radiation resistant High Entropy Alloys (HEA's) and tritium breeding. Breakthrough's in fusion energy are coming faster than many realize ... time to get to work! https://lnkd.in/gqJD-zmv
关于我们
Avalanche is a VC-backed, fusion energy start-up based in Seattle, WA. We are designing, testing and building compact fusion machines that you can hold in your hands. Our modular reactor will be capable of being combined however needed to provide clean energy and decarbonize the planet. Our unique approach enables rapid iterations of build, test, fix design cycles.

It's already been two weeks since APS DPP in Atlanta, Georgia and we're happy to reflect on how well the week went. We had a strong presence, with 7 attendees showcasing our latest work in fusion energy research. We're proud of the hard work and innovative projects our team presented: ?Electrostatic Orbitron Fusion Device?– Lecture by?Andrew J. Cole? ?Neutron Camera with Centimeter Scale Spatial Resolution?– Poster by?Ho San Ko, Ph.D. ?Measurements of a Pure Electron Plasma Confined in a High-Voltage Cross-Field Device?– Poster by?Matthew Affolter ?Constants of Motion in the Orbitron Fusion Device?– Poster by?Andrew Cole? ?Collective Effects near the Ion Space-Charge Limit of the Orbitron?– Poster by?Daniel Merthe Interested in pushing the boundaries of fusion technology? Our Journal paper on developing high voltage cathode field emission models with machine learning / Ai just droped. Physics of field emission is super complicated and I have to admit when Dr Borghei proposed this first of a kind work I wasn’t sure it would pan out. I am now convinced ML and Ai will increasingly be key to solving complex physics and developing digital twins of fusion devices to predict and control their operation. This paper represents our first exciting foray into this field at Avalanche.

I'm juicing the Big Apple for all it's worth at NY Climate Week. Why you care: All fusion is not the same. Fusion doesn't have to giant, industrial plants, and there are ways compact fusion machines like ours have unique markets prior to even hitting that big energy positive milestone we're all working towards. If you're interested in learning more about compact fusion that can be developed fast, deliver neutron products, and then not have to be connected to the grid later on. Reach out- let's talk!

Today, Chief of Staff, Kate Kelly is having breakfast at Tiffany’s while en?route to The Glasshouse on the Highline. There, she’ll join a panel of innovators pushing bleeding-edge technologies forward to combat the climate crisis in a huge way. Existing technology won’t get us to where we need to be. The climate emergency demands profound technological innovation to be deployed in a timeframe that matters. The challenge is monstrous–systems and partnerships must be mobilized now for the successful development and commercialization of new solutions. Thank you, Capgemini, for having Kate! We can’t wait to hear how the discussion goes. https://lnkd.in/dFAHv3Se

Chief of Staff,?Kate Kelly, kicks off #ClimateWeek at ClimateImpact Clubhouse, where she’ll?co-host the roundtable – Energy Transition: Fusion Roundtable. Critical topics include: > How is fusion changing the way we work? > How can we build an entirely new supply chain from the ground up? > How does the current regulatory landscape help or hinder innovative fusion applications? Crush it Kate! #AvalancheAtClimateWeek
