The 6th Annual Innovation Xchange was the best one yet! This one-day forum continues to raise the bar as one of the premier conferences in the Southeast, and this year was no exception. Every presentation was incredibly informative, covering groundbreaking topics such as Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), Medical Delivery, Counter-UAS, Building Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity updates. The AUVSI Georgia Chapter was proud to sponsor this yearly event, and our Leadership Team was in attendance, engaging with industry leaders and innovators. A major highlight of the day was Cody M. closing out the indoor conference with a “live demonstration” of a substation inspection—right from the classroom! He was in direct communication with the remote pilot, and the audience had the incredible opportunity to observe the inspection in real time. Wow, that was cool! Fired up to have Adriana Rivera, MA and Grant B. joining AUVSI — Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International to add advocacy capacity to our outstanding team. Adriana will be managing our Defense Advocacy Committee and leading our engagements with Capitol Hill on the annual NDAA, defense appropriations, and other key defense legislative initiatives. She will also be our lead for Pentagon/DoD engagement. Adriana joins us from the U.S. Senate where she was a Military Legislative Assistant (MLA) and she previously worked on defense issues in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is pursuing her Master's Degree at the U.S. Naval War College. Grant will be managing our Ground Advocacy Committee and our primary lead on all things ground vehicles systems and robotics. He joins us from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and he previously worked on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives. Let's go! ?? Today, AUVSI submitted testimony to the U.S. House Aviation Subcommittee as part of its hearing, America Builds: Air Traffic Control System Infrastructure and Staffing, calling for urgent investment in Air Traffic Control (ATC) modernization to advance safety-focused technologies and support next-generation aviation. ? With record infrastructure investments underway, now is the time to: -Expand ATC workforce training to manage the increasing demands of crewed and uncrewed aviation. -Accelerate UAS Traffic Management (UTM) to safely integrate drones & AAM into shared airspace. -Invest in digital & automation tools to reduce controller workload while enhancing safety. -Ensure secure spectrum access for critical UAS & AAM communications. What’s next? Lawmakers must act to modernize U.S. airspace - or risk falling behind in aviation global leadership. AUVSI stands ready to work with Congress, the FAA, and industry leaders to make safe, scalable integration a reality. ?
