?? Drone security news: We just awarded Green UAS certification to Hoverfly Technologies's Spectre #drone. The big picture: Spectre is the first tethered UAS platform to be verified as secure and NDAA compliant ahead of Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)'s Blue UAS list refresh. The AUVSI Pathfinder Chapter in Huntsville, Alabama just wrapped its 35th Symposium and it was a tremendous event. Impressive turnout, which translates into Chapter support for youth STEM programs with grants and scholarships - over $1M donated over the course of the Chapter's history! What we're up to: AUVSI recently submitted public comments in support of new Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes tailored to the uncrewed industry, including codes for commercial UAS operators, robotics & automation engineers and technicians, and remote sensing scientists and technicians. ? Why it matters: The SOC system enables the U.S. Department of Labor to classify workers into occupational categories -- which is essential for understanding employment trends, guiding workforce development, and informing policy decisions. ? Yes, but: Existing codes do not include roles specific to uncrewed systems. Inclusion of these codes will ensure the uncrewed systems industry and associated professions are accurately recognized and categorized in national workforce data, and will contextualize labor shifts within the broader technology landscape.
