The museum presents a wide range of exhibitions and public programs—including lectures, film, theater, festivals, family events, and music—and performs scholarship, research, and educational outreach. The Autry’s collection of more than 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts includes the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest and most significant in the United States.

The Autry is #hiring a new PREPARATOR II (On-Call) in Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

The Autry Museum of the American West is open today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day. The Autry will be open for visitors to explore some of the Autry’s Native exhibitions like?Reclaiming El Camino,?Human Nature?and?Waterways,?as well as two PST ART:?Art & Science Collide?exhibitions,?Out of Site?and?Future Imaginaries. The Autry will also be hosting a screening of?Oyate Woyaka?and a?panel discussion with the filmmakers and Sage Fast Dog, who is featured in the film and started a Lakota Immersion School on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include art, music and a?reception. Oyate Woyaka?highlights how valuable Indigenous language and culture is to the world. In addition to restoring the language within the community and using it to heal from historical trauma, Indigenous languages can help the world address biodiversity loss, mental health and climate change. https://lnkd.in/g-w8Hvhq
