I had a great experience at the Automotive Packaging Summit in Greenville, SC last month where I had the pleasure of attending a panel discussion with industry experts Tom Andrew (JTEKT), Dan Brunetti (Rehau) and moderator Bridget Grewal (MAGNA). We discussed the challenges, technologies and future trends in sustainable innovation and compliance in automotive packaging. For this edition of our Learning of the Month, we had the pleasure of interviewing Bridget Grewal of Magna International and Suzanne Fisher, CPP of Fisher Packaging at our recent Automotive Packaging Summit 2024—covering insights on enhancing circularity in automotive packaging through collaboration, education, and guidance from the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP). When asked, "What are some challenges you faced when trying to consolidate automotive supply chain packaging for recycling?" Bridget Grewal stated: "Well, when we tried to consolidate the automotive packaging materials for recycling, we realized that there were so many different materials and that we were using them for similar reasons. So, if we were able to use and create the guidelines that we did through SP, we were able to narrow the type of materials that we were gonna have to recycle." We were honored to host the Automotive Packaging Summit for a day of networking and fun. We were able to give attendees a glimpse of our design, automation, foam and film capabilities. Guests were treated to a home cooked meal from the Morrisette Hot Spot and friendly games of cornhole and ping pong. The Morrisette Pckaging trucks stuffed with prizes were a big hit too. We can’t wait to do it again.
