Great post Joseph Kopser. We agree that Fort Cavazos could help Forge the Future - Today. Over 4 years ago, we saw how Fort Cavazos, Texas A&M University–Central Texas, City of Killeen, Texas, and others could lead the United States Department of Defense with INTELLIGENT INFRASTRUCTURE that supports the Base of the Future, the Community of the Future, the Range of the Future, and support Expeditionary Missions. Meetings took place with fantastic leadership from President Marc Nigliazzo, DDr. Russell Porter, Ph.D., Ed.D., Abdul Subhani, John Crutchfield, MG (Ret) Ken Cox, Col (Ret) Keith Sledd, Mr. John Diem, . . . They could also be a region to support AUTONOMY PRIME, which will have a larger impact on society than the Manhattan Project. AUTONOMY PRIME program focused on Applied Science (TRL7 - MRL).?Autonomy cuts across almost every DOD Agency, Department, Office, Program, CFT, Base, and Test Facility.? Fortune Favors Those Who Build the Future. Army Futures Command is about Forging the Future. How involved will the US Army be with Intelligent Infrastructure for Commerce and Defense? Great to meet w/ LTG Kevin D. Admiral and CSM John McDwyer, and the leadership of the III Armored Corps (III Corps) leading a delegation from The University of Texas at Austin. Our discussions centered on how the University can best support III Corps in their critical priorities for Soldiers, Civilians, and Families. LTG Admiral emphasized his priorities in the area of Soldier, Civilian and Family care as (1) building trust-based teams, (2) deliver world-class quality of life, and (3) optimizing Army programs at Fort Cavazos. Together, we explored how UT’s expertise, resources, and community (across a wide range of areas) can contribute to these goals, positioning the University in its goal to be a premier partner and destination for the Soldiers, veterans, and families of Fort Cavazos. The delegation included key leaders from UT: - Jeremiah Gunderson, Director of Veteran and Military Affiliated Services (VMAS) - Dr. Elisa Borah, Executive Director of the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness - Dr. Jennifer Porter, Executive Director of the OnRamps Program In fact, Jeremiah, Dr Borah and I all lived and/or worked at Fort Cavazos at some point over the last 25 years. Therefore, our conversations were quite personal for us when we discussed several topics (but maintained a clear focus)--- leveraging the strength of UT’s 52,000 students and 17,000 faculty and staff to support III Corps’ four divisions and nearly 100,000 soldiers stationed across five U.S. locations. With their troops constantly deployed around the globe, our shared mission is to provide meaningful support that improves the lives of military members and their families. The conversation highlights the immense potential of collaboration between a Tier One university and our military. Thanks to UT President Jay Hartzell for providing the resources to help make it happen. It’s inspiring to see the impact we can achieve together in service to those who continue to serve our nation.
