In early November, Autodesk was invited to present and demo Project Reframe at the Colombia 4.0 event organized by MinTIC (the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology) where Jacobo Bibliowicz, Manager, Research Science, proudly represented Autodesk Research in his home city. Project Reframe is a proof-of-concept for recording and editing motion in Virtual Reality. The easy-to-use animation tool allows users to record their body movements, facial expressions, and hand gestures in VR. Additionally, it features an intuitive VR-based editing interface, making it straightforward for creators to edit their animations. Check out the blog for a video of the demo, an overview of the conference in Colombia, and more on Project Reframe's potential: https://bit.ly/3Z43Hbp #VR #research

Today, I had the honor of moderating a panel on "Addressing California's Housing Crisis through Sustainability, Technology, and Engaging Future Design Leaders" for City College of San Francisco students. We kicked off with inspiring talks from Autodesk's CMO Dara Treseder and California State Senator Scott Wiener. I gained invaluable insights from the speakers, students, and our panelists: San Francisco 49ers quarterback and aerospace scholar R. Joshua Dobbs , Factory OS VP Jamie Hiteshew, Terner Labs' Director of the Builders Lab, Ben White, and my colleague, Autodesk Research construction and circularity researcher Fopefoluwa Bademosi. To those in my network working on affordable housing, I am passionate about this cause and would love to amplify and support your efforts. Please share your thoughts below. Special thanks to Kellyanne Mahoney and Paul Blandini for hosting such an incredible event! #AffordableHousing #AutodeskResearch #FutureLeaders #SustainableDesign #ConstructionTechnology #CityCollegeSF #SF49ers

Autodesk Research is at #SC24 with NVIDIA to showcase our work with Autodesk XLB! Stop by NVIDIA’s booth #2523 to see how XLB, a differentiable massively parallel Lattice Boltzmann open-source library in Python, leverages hardware acceleration for physics-based machine learning. With support for Google JAX and NVIDIA Warp backends, XLB is designed for efficient and scalable fluid dynamics simulations. Recent advancements position XLB as a powerful tool for solving real-world challenges in energy-efficient building design, vehicle aerodynamics, real-time surrogates and more.? ? Join us at SC24 to learn how Autodesk Research and NVIDIA are working together to push the boundaries of fluid dynamics simulations.? ? From greenery to noise levels to finding shaded areas to sit, have you considered how you experience public spaces? On average, we spend 90% of our lives in designed spaces, however, traditional architecture and design processes rarely attempt to capture occupant experiences – and if they do, they are poorly integrated into design workflows. Autodesk Research's human-centric building design team brought these inquiries to The Bentway in Toronto, where they embarked on the experiment, "From Steps to Stories" to quantify the subjective way human beings perceive the built environments they inhabit. Since the project's completion, it has been discussed at Autodesk University, the World AI Summit in Amsterdam, and ACADIA 2024 in Calgary where project lead Ray Wang is presenting the paper, "AI-Enabled Participatory Design Powered by Multimodal Experiential Data." To learn more about the project and how Autodesk teams are researching more sustainable and experientially diverse public spaces, head here: https://bit.ly/3YWSISl #ACADIAORG #design #AI

Generative design, an iterative design process, leverages software to create outputs that meet specific constraints. Whether it's done by humans, test programs, or artificial intelligence, they refine the feasible region of inputs and outputs algorithmically or manually to meet evolving design requirements. However, the team at Autodesk has thrown a curve ball into the mix I feel. Join me as I learn more about that curve ball, from Clinton Perry, Tony Godfrey and Ed Tlegenov at their booth at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show Don't worry I also eventually drag the details about the amazing giant drone that drew nearly every human that visited IMTS as a guest or an exhibitor.\ MTDCNC Paul Jones Joe Reynolds Tony Gunn MTDCNC - North America Christopher C.
