🎄 Holiday Tips for Families with Autism 🎄 1. What's Your Focus: - Do a "Holiday Analysis" and choose one of the four strategies for the holiday time. Decide if this is a time to rest, maintain skills, or practice new skills. Set achievable goals.. 2. Use Schedules: - We all do better when we know what to expect. Use schedules and First/Then visual supports. Whiteboards can be helpful for communicating expectations and schedules. 3. Set "Do's" at Family Events: - Think about your loved one’s developmental level and stress. Determine important expectations like greeting family, using utensils, and saying thank you. Practice and review these skills Thanksgiving. 4. Plan for Sensory Overload: - Ensure there is a safe, quiet place for your loved one with Autism to go if they become overloaded, regardless of age. Make a plan and communicate it to them in advance. #Autism #HolidayTips #FamilySupport #SensoryFriendly #HolidayPlanning Feel free to share your own tips and experiences! 💛
