Authentically You Eating Disorder Counseling?is busy getting ready for Eating Disorder Awareness Week which kicks off next week, February 26th - March 3rd. This is an important time to raise awareness, share stories, and provide support to those who are struggling from their eating disorder. We feel this is an opportunity to reduce the stigma around eating disorders and ensure that people feel seen and heard. During this week, we often get asked questions like: What are the signs of an eating disorder? Changes in eating habits, extreme preoccupation with food, weight, or body image, and social withdrawal are some signs to look for. But each individual’s experience can look different, so it’s important to approach with care. What causes eating disorders? Eating disorders can stem from a combination of genetic, environmental, psychological, and societal factors. It's often more complicated than just focusing on food. How can I help someone struggling with an eating disorder? Encourage open and non-judgmental conversations. Offer support in a compassionate way, and guide them towards seeking professional help. It’s crucial to remember that recovery is a journey. Can eating disorders be treated? Yes, with the right support, treatment, and care, many people recover. Therapy, support groups, and nutrition counseling are commonly used tools in recovery. If you have questions about eating disorders, treatment options, or how you can help support someone in need, drop them below! We are here to provide answers and guide you through this important conversation. Let’s come together to increase understanding and support. #HAES #EatingDisorderAwarenessWeek #Community #YouAreNotAlone #Support #MentalHealth #Therapy
