AUT welcomed Kristin School students via their Tertiary Futures Camp. Students enjoyed an overview of the wide variety of engineering pathways AUT offers. Thank you Dr Sherif Beskhyroun, Kevin Yip and Dr Tet Chuan Lee for introducing the students to key aspects of structural engineering during their lab tour of the Built Environment Engineering (BEE) Lab. Our academics provided an insightful demonstration of the large-scale shake table, used to simulate seismic events and analyse how different structures respond to ground motion during earthquakes. Students also learned about powerful dynamic actuators, which generate controlled forces to assess the strength, flexibility, and performance of various structural systems under extreme seismic forces. #highschoolpathways??#highschool ?#tertiary ?#STEM ?#engineering ?#educationalpartnerships
