Australian Unity has announced positive HY2025 results while progressing its transformation and integration program. Profit for the half-year (after income tax) was $11.7 million. “In the half year under review, the Group saw underlying positive gains begin to manifest from the multi-year transformation program that commenced in FY2023. We have invested an additional $33.4 million in the half-year to date in this program,” says Rohan Mead, Australian Unity’s Group Managing Director. “These deliberate portfolio adjustments were driven by our motivations to have sustainable, social impacts, and this result is confirmation that our aspirations are aligned with the ongoing needs of our members, customers, staff, and communities they serve.” “During the remainder of FY2025 we will seek to realise further positive value from our strategic shifts across the business portfolio.” To read the full announcement, visit: https://lnkd.in/gZqUHtr3

We have the “scoop” on a recent event at two of our retirement communities! Earlier this month, The Oaks and Walmsley retirement communities hosted a Friend Referral event. Residents, staff, and friends enjoyed a refreshing ice cream treat on a hot day. Even while undergoing cancer treatment, her resilience and passion have driven outstanding results, making her an invaluable part of our team. Earlier this year, Australian Unity attended Sydney’s Yabun Festival, the largest single-day celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in the country. The event served as a valuable opportunity for us to engage with the community on the sacred Gadigal country, while also showcasing our diverse offerings. Members of the Home Health team were on hand to share insights into our home care services, engaging with Elders and their family members within the community. Conversations revolved around employment opportunities, healthcare services, and the ongoing journey of reconciliation. Australian Unity's commitment to community engagement was evident throughout the event, creating a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, and the celebration of diversity. Today marks 17 years since then-Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s National Apology in Federal Parliament to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, also known as ‘the Stolen Generation’. This significant milestone serves as a reminder of the progress made in supporting reconciliation and the ongoing work required to create a brighter future for all Australians. "This day is an important occasion to reflect and celebrate how far we have come to support reconciliation and to identify what more we as a united country need to do," says Ange Donovan, Australian Unity’s Reconciliation Practice Lead. “In my role, I am inspired to empower our people to become lifelong champions of reconciliation, and to support the implementation and ongoing commitment to reconciliation through our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan,” added Donovan. On this significant anniversary, Australian Unity reaffirms its commitment to reconciliation and stands in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
