The Australian Government has a clear ambition to achieve #NetZero by 2050 and to help other countries achieve their net zero goals by becoming a #RenewableEnergy superpower. Our traditional #export industries are decarbonising and demanding renewable energy solutions. Earlier this month I had the opportunity to get out of the office and take a road trip to South Australia's mid-north to help tell the story of how foreign investors are supporting Australia’s net zero ambitions. The Blyth Battery, a?238.5 MW /?477 MWh asset, has come about through a partnership between three foreign investors - Neoen Australia?(the long-term owner operator), Elecnor Australia?(the balance of the plant and principal )?and NHOA Energy (the battery storage specialist). The technology, capability and capital they have invested in the Blyth Battery, coupled with Neoen Australia’s Goyder South Stage 1 Wind Farm, will deliver over 50% of the energy used by BHP’s Olympic Dam mine - one of the world’s most significant copper, gold and uranium deposits. The project led to the launch of the free WELCOME Framework, our guide to help #Tourism businesses become more accessible and inclusive – and tap into major market opportunities. If you’re a tourism operator interested in improving accessibility, little things can make a big difference, such as: ??bringing the check-in form to your guest, rather than your guest to the check-in desk ??clearing pathways of obstructions ??listing your business’s existing accessible features on your website. People with accessibility needs and those travelling with them spent $6.8?billion on domestic tourism in the June 2023 quarter, according to a report by Austrade’s Tourism Research Australia. That was 21% of that quarter’s total domestic tourism spend.
