关于我们
The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 27,000 members. The APS is committed to advancing psychology as a discipline and profession. It spreads the message that psychologists make a difference to peoples’ lives, through improving scientific knowledge and community wellbeing. APS members form a dynamic group that advocate for psychologists at all levels of government. They are constantly promoting the contributions psychology makes to people's health and wellbeing, and to understanding important social issues facing Australian society. We look forward to working with our new President Sara Quinn in addressing the growing need for psychological support across Australia, improving access to psychological services and more. ? To hear more from our Sara read our latest media statement here:?https://lnkd.in/g-cDS4V7
Thrilled to step into the role of President of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), our nation’s largest body for psychologists. Our diverse profession, recently recognised through our advocacy to expand postgraduate pathways, contributes across health, education, workplaces, sports, disability, and community services, improving Australians' well-being and enriching lives. I'll be working closely with government and stakeholders to advocate for our profession and address the demands we face. Together, we will advance psychology and support the vital role it plays in helping Australians thrive.

APS President Dr Sara Quinn was in the media this week to talk about the proposed social media ban for under-16s. Last week the APS was invited to make a submission into the Inquiry into the Online Safety Amendment Bill 2024. While we were pleased to be invited to contribute, we expressed our concerns that the time we were provided — one business day — was inadequate to properly assess and provide input into the matter of the social media ban. Our position remains that the government needs to draw on the expertise of psychologists in behavioural science so that the they can draw up a plan that reflects the best interests of young Australians.
