Today we are proud to spotlight Austin SHRM board member, Tracy Letulle, our 2025 VP of Communication! Some fun facts about Tracy: What was your first-ever job? My first job was as a sales associate at a music/video rental store. I got to hear all of the newly released music for free. It was my first initial exposure to HR as I dealt with employee/customer issues and learned the art of negotiation. If you remember how much VHS videos cost back in the day, you would understand the importance of getting people to return videos! What’s your favorite Austin event or festival? This one is easy - the Austin City Limits music festival in October. I have a group of friends who I have been attending it with for many years. One of my friends is 6'3 and is responsible for holding the flag which helps all of us find each other if we get separated and another is a graphic designer who creates a theme for us. What’s your secret talent that has nothing to do with HR? I have the ability to remember faces. I can remember if I met someone years ago and often remember where and sometimes what the person was wearing. One time, I was at a gym in FL and saw a woman who I had not seen for 10 years. We both attended the same elementary school in England and when I asked her if she was that person, it was her! This skill has served me well in both the benefits broker space and in my HR roles. Bonus Cake or pie? Pie. It used to be cake but it changed to pie more recently.
