He spearheads the Investor Relations team, Portfolio Management, and contributes significantly to the Investment and Startups’ Funnel, overseeing portfolio investments in Fund 1 and 2. A seasoned entrepreneur, José Luis has founded over eight companies, showcasing his multifaceted expertise in the entrepreneurial realm. Among these ventures is Uassist, a startup that has grown into a company providing insurance products for cell phone repair and robbery. Uassist now boasts more than 50 employees and is growing exponentially. Before co-founding Dux, José Luis served as a corporate and investment banker at HSBC’s Global Banking team in Mexico. Commerce is rapidly evolving, and last week’s Creators x Convos: The Future of Commerce panel shed light on the crucial role AI will play in its future. While AI can produce content at scale, the panel emphasized that authenticity and the human touch are more important than ever. As creators, maintaining a genuine connection with your audience is key, even as technology advances. Thank you to everyone who joined us! Your energy and engagement made the evening truly special, and we’re excited to continue these important conversations. A huge thank you to our incredible panelists: michael powers, CEO of twistyai and one of the first 15 employees at YouTube, where he launched Channels and Subscriptions, helping shape the platform’s early success. Nick Spiller, investor at Capital Factory and host of the Austinpreneur podcast, who has been instrumental in helping hundreds of Austin startups raise capital and grow. Drishti Wadhwa, VP of Marketing at Valkyrie, leading AI/ML innovation in sectors where precision and accountability are critical. Michael Shewmake, founder of Atlas Coffee Club, taking coffee lovers on a global journey each month, and advisor to Springdale Ventures, guiding brands on scaling their e-commerce efforts. Jameson Pitts, founder of Sangfroid! Studio, a boutique branding and growth marketing agency, and Lynx, a marketplace empowering startups with sweat equity. Stay tuned for the next event—we’re just getting started. If you’re interested in speaking at a future event or have ideas to share, feel free to reach out! This series has been in partnership with INGENIUS with a focus on media. I'm currently looking for partners to build out more recurring series in other verticals to round Austin Venture Association programming. I'm putting together both irl and virtual programming for the fall so feel free to reach out. Let’s keep the conversation going!
