As we approach It’s My Park Day and Dia de los Muertos (November 2nd), we’re pausing to honor those who have come before us and have had a direct impact and influence on our Parks – and today we’re highlighting the man behind Earl J. Pomerleau Pocket Park. Earl J. Pomerleau is credited with being the person most responsible for bringing the discussion group format of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings to Texas and Mexico. In 1972 – the same year he and his family moved to the Northeast side of Austin – Pomerleau was hired by the State of Texas as the program director for the Austin Travis County Alcoholism Pilot Project. His extensive work in the field of alcohol and substance abuse spanned more than three decades and touched the lives of countless families. To learn more about APF’s work with Earl J.
