When folks think of historic preservation, they typically picture buildings being saved. While, yes, they are the medium, they are the means to an end. Preserving the communities, memories, cultures, and stories that have shaped our city—these are the things most important to keep in tact and celebrate as we grow. Here in Austin, the rapid evolution of our city has put both its historic structures and marginalized communities under constant threat, but Preservation Austin is fighting to protect them.
