But these caregivers often face unexpected challenges, stepping into unfamiliar territory without a support network. At Austin Angels and the National Angels network, we focus on individualized solutions that wrap around both the child and caregiver. From morning check-ins with teens to helping navigate school and medical appointments, we partner with families to ensure they have the support they need. For nearly 60 years, TENS OF TRILLIONS of dollars have been spent attacking poverty from the top down. The result? Lots and lots of bandaids have made the symptoms of poverty easier to endure. The needle has not moved. Note: The outcomes of foster care are inextricably linked to poverty. The foster care community doesn’t need bandaids. They need their experience with the system to be transformed. The power of relationships is the answer. Healthy, dedicated, and consistent relationships change everything. One-size-fits-all isn’t our thing. At Austin Angels and the National Angels network, we have a laser focus on the individual. Our programs represent tailored solutions that meet children, youth, and families exactly where they’re at. When Maddison found out she was pregnant, her mentor and our case managers hosted a baby shower and wrapped her in support. When the Lee family felt overwhelmed, their Love Box leaders set up a meal train and delivered dinners for an entire month. When Brittaney needed to get a new car, her mentor took her to the dealership to make sure she got the best deal. When Cole’s adoption fell through, his mentor and entire care team were there to tell him – This is not because of you. You are worthy. We will not leave you. Every single day, relationships are changing the outcomes of foster care in our community. Your support has daily impact. So far this year, 590 incredible people are experiencing the profound relationships nurtured by our programs in Central and 3,776 through our national network. But we have more work to do. It is our goal to reach and radically serve every child. Every time our team moves a kid or family from the waitlist to a match – we celebrate the HOW behind it. You are the HOW.
