Great Wednesday morning at the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Austin Chapter Hams for the Holidays community service event in partnership with the Austin Independent School District! Following on the continued success of our Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Austin Chapter, the Austin AGC is launching an Executive Leadership Program (ELP) in 2025 aimed at assisting mid-level construction professionals to learn more about the larger macro-issues that create opportunities for their career success and for the company they will eventually lead. Among these issues include the importance of: legislative advocacy, construction law, risk management, economic development organizations, technology innovations, public speaking, developer and designer perspectives, and more. A limited group (maximum of 12 participants) will develop a civic and professional network and emerge with an increased knowledge of our industry’s diversities. Beginning in January and ending in December, each session focuses on an integral aspect of the commercial construction industry specific to Austin and the surrounding region. Ever wanted to learn Spanish to better communicate with your construction teams? Here's your chance! The Austin AGC is offering Spanish 1, 2, and 3 level classes again starting in January 2025 in partnership with Freestyle's Language at Work Program. Online classes are held 2x weekly from 11:30am to 12:45pm with folks in Texas and across the country. An additional 3rd day of coaching is available each week as well. On the topic of these classes, Austin AGC President Phil Thoden notes: "I started 2024 knowing only a little Spanish, but now after participating in the Spanish 1 and 2 classes I can now understand and speak it on a level I never thought possible.
