What a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of our partnership with Marriott International. David Marriott's recent journey through India beautifully illustrates why this collaboration has been such a blessing for our properties.?As we continue to grow with Marriott across India, we're grateful for a partnership that goes beyond business to touch lives and strengthen communities. Here's David's inspiring account of his recent visit:
Last month I traveled to India, visiting more than two dozen hotels and corporate offices, celebrating important milestones, experiencing the warm culture, and supporting local communities.?? ? A highlight was marking 25 years since Marriott International opened our first property in India, Goa Marriott Resort and Spa. India is home to more than 150 properties across 17 brands under Marriott Bonvoy, and we have a robust pipeline of over 80 properties – incredible growth in a thriving market.? ? At the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, I joined a fireside chat with Ranju Alex, Area Vice President, South Asia, during a leadership forum hosted by Marriott’s Women Ambassador Network. We spoke about how our culture and core values empower women at Marriott – also a theme in discussions with members of Project Pranita, an initiative to prepare young women for careers in hotel management.? ? I laced up my running shoes for the tenth annual Road to Give, a charitable campaign that encourages associates to run, walk, ride, and move to benefit local initiatives. This event benefitted Rising Star Outreach, a nonprofit supporting individuals and families impacted by leprosy. My family volunteered at one of its schools for a week during the summer of 2008 – my first visit to India. Their work is inspiring and we were pleased to support their mission. Sustainability was also a central focus at the JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, where the team commemorated its 10th anniversary by unveiling a garden sourcing fresh ingredients for the hotel’s culinary offerings.?? ? Our last stop was in Surat, where I met with DJ Rama and Keval Rama. The Rama family are longtime Marriott owners and were wonderful hosts – even taking me to visit their family village. Together, we spent time with Auro University students and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the JW Marriott Surat Resort and Spa. At the Surat Marriott Hotel, I was invited to wear festive attire for an evening of “Garba,” a traditional dance of Gujarat – capping off a memorable trip that deepened my appreciation for India, its people, and its culture.? ? Thank you to Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific Excluding China (APEC), and the wonderful teams who welcomed me. Namaste.? ? #India
